At Kumba, customers know that we have a culture of service and added value. With the new Saldanha sampling plant, we are able to measure very accurately the quality of our product. This state-of-the-art facility was established to enable us to improve the sampling standards and level of service delivery of our products. It allows the sampling of a wide range of iron ore products, from fine material to lump ore. During the process, samples are taken from the supply line, en route to the ships, and are introduced into a fully automated robotic laboratory where they are prepared simultaneously for physical and chemical analysis. With the quality established and verified, flexible loading strategies allow multiple product loading on a single ship, single product loading using both conveyor lines, or the loading of two vessels with either the same or different products.
