Because of its low degree of breakdown during handling and reduction in the blast furnace, Sishen lump ore is an excellent alternative to pellets. Comparative tests with various international lump iron ores show conclusively that burdens of Sishen lump ore are more permeable under blast furnace conditions. This improved permeability leads to increased productivity of the blast furnace and also means that Sishen lump ore can replace more expensive pellets without negatively impacting on blast furnace and direct
reduction operations.
Kumba niche offerings:
Lump ore for direct charge:
27mm 66% Fe lump: Designed to arrive at the customer with a low amount of undersize material, even after extensive handling.Unique, due to limited undersize material (13mm – 27mm)
20mm 66% Fe lump: Designed for blast furnaces and direct reduction processes. The lower mean particle size improves the reducibility, which results in lower fuel consumption andhigher productivity (8 mm – 20 mm)
25mm 64% Fe lump: Designed for blast furnaces. Standard lump offering withsuperior undersize properties (8 mm – 25 mm)
Fine ore for sinter plants:
6.3 mm 64,5% Fe fines (+0.2 mm – 8 mm): Ideally suited for sinter-making due to the relative coarseness and the small amount of super-fine material (0,2mm – 8 mm)
