Kumba reaches agreement with the NUM

04 October, 2010

The parties have agreed to the salary and wage offer of 7.5%, 9% and 10% increases in the various categories, which includes a 0.5% safety increment based on 2009 performance. These increases will be implemented with effect from 1 July 2010. The parties have also agreed to extent this to a multi-year agreement.

The parties also agreed to a working group to investigate options on how worker skills are recognised.

Final agreement was reached and union representatives will hold meetings at the mines to call off the strike.

Strike action today consisted mainly of limited go-slow actions at Sishen mine, which did not impact production significantly.
