FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirms that Kumba has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, with an ESG rating of 4.3 out of 5, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.
The CDP is a United Kingdom-based organisation that works to disclose the greenhouse gas emissions of major companies. The CDP works with 3,000 of the world’s largest companies to help them ensure that an effective carbon emissions reduction strategy is made integral to their business. As a result, the CDP has established what is regarded as the global standard for emissions and energy reporting. We have participated in the CDP’s Climate Response Programme since 2009 and in 2013, we achieved inclusion in the Global 500 and JSE Top 100 Carbon Disclosure Leadership indices with a score of 98%.

As of 2020, Kumba Iron Ore Ltd received an MSCI ESG Rating of AA on a scale of AAA-CCC.
MSCI ESG Research provides MSCI ESG Ratings on global public and a few private companies on a scale of AAA (leader) to CCC (laggard), according to exposure to industry-specific ESG risks and the ability to manage those risks relative to peers.
