Mpumi was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Kumba Iron Ore Limited with effect from 1 January 2022 and joined the Kumba Board as an executive director. She will assume the role of Chairman of the operating entity, Sishen Iron Ore Company (Pty) Ltd.

Mpumi is a former De Beers Group bursar and officially joined De Beers in 2001 as a process engineer. As part of her production journey, she worked on process improvement and plant design projects, she also worked in various leadership levels within production management. She was appointed General Manager at De Beers Kimberley Mines in 2007, becoming the first female General Manager in the De Beers Group. In 2010, she was appointed General Manager of De Beers Voorspoed mine and three and a half years later became Senior Vice-President of De Beers Sightholder Sales South Africa.

Mpumi was promoted to Deputy CEO of De Beers Consolidated Mines in November 2017, rising to the position of Managing Director, De Beers Group Managed Operations, in April 2019. Managed Operations includes De Beers Group's operations in South Africa and Canada.

Mpumi holds a BSc in chemical engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and completed leadership development at the London Business School.

Mpumi previously served as a non-executive director of various companies including the Black Management Forum and Mintek. She was a winner of the 2018 Top 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining, awarded in Mayfield, London.

Vijay was appointed as the COO for Kumba Iron Ore on 01 April 2020. He has over 24 years of global experience with a proven track record of accomplishments in setting up and managing multiple operations/ projects across the globe in South Africa, Canada, Australia, Northern Africa. Vijay joins Kumba from Anglo American’s Coal division (Greenside Colliery) where he was the General Manager for two years. His previous roles include being Head of Iron Ore with Vedanta Ltd and Head of Global Minerals Group for Tata Steel.

Sam joins Kumba from Anglo American Coal South Africa (AAC) where he has held various positions since 2000. These include the role of Head; Business Optimisation, responsible for amongst others identifying and executing strategic growth opportunities for the business unit. During his tenure, he gained extensive experience in acquisitions, JV's and other partnering opportunities, finance, strategy, regulatory, and disposals, with the most recent being that of AAC’s Eskom-Tied mines.

Bothwell was appointed at Kumba Iron Ore on 1 September 2017. He served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director at Wescoal Holdings Limited since July 2016. He previously held various senior financial roles at Lonmin Plc since 2010. These include Group Head of Finance, Head of Treasury and Acting Chief Financial Officer. Prior to Lonmin Plc, he held a position as a Partner at Deloitte & Touche since 2002. During his tenure at Deloitte & Touche he also spent some time working in the United Kingdom.

Glen was appointed to his current position on 1 October 2015. Glen, a geologist by training, joined Kumba in March 1998 and has over 17 years' experience in geosciences, geotechnical engineering and hydrogeology. Before assuming his acting role he held the position of Head Geosciences.

Chesley has been appointed acting Executive Head of HR effective 13 December 2021. He has been with Kumba since June 2014 at Kolomela Mine as HR Manager. In his current role, he is charged with leading the business’ HR strategy that supports effective leadership and culture, which transforms into people effectiveness and efficiency. Furthermore, he is entrusted with safeguarding business compliance with related labour legislation and the implementation of HR related AA Social Way strategies. Chesley has vast experience in shaping and managing HR strategies in the mining industry in general, having contributed significantly in the recent Kumba organization re-modeling and shaping the future of work.

Dr Pranill Ramchander was appointed as the new Executive Head of Corporate Affairs for Kumba Iron Ore, effective 1 September 2020. In this role, Pranill is leading the Corporate Affairs agenda across communication, social performance and government and other stakeholder relations to help protect and enhance Kumba’s regulatory and social license to operate.

Pranill has a deep understanding of communities and social development, having researched socio-cultural risk and its impact on host communities as part of his PHD thesis.  He has proven experience in education, academia, stakeholder engagement and communicating complex issues across cultures. Pranill has also served as a trustee of Anglo American’s Chairman's Fund for several years.

Nandi was appointed Executive Head of SHE for Kumba Iron Ore on 1 May 2021. She joins Kumba from Rio Tinto, Richards Bay Minerals, where she held the position of Manager Safety, responsible for ensuring the safety of the people and managing the company’s compliance with regards to environmental regulations. Nandi’s experience spans across Coal and Mineral Sands in both opencast and underground mining, with sound knowledge of Social and Labour Plans, Occupational Health and External Community Affairs.

Timo joined Kumba in September 2007 and moved to Singapore in August 2012. He was previously employed by TechnoServe as country director South Africa. His academic background and industry experience adds international depth to the Kumba team. Timo is based in Singapore, close to key markets.
